Ami Ayalon is the Chairman of AKIM Israel, the largest Israeli association providing supports and services to people with intellectual disabilities and their families in Israel. With 64 branches throughout Israel, AKIM offers a comprehensive portfolio of services including legal counsel, employment, housing, support, culture and more, regardless of race and religion. Under the leadership of Ami Ayalon, AKIM promotes the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in all aspects of Israeli life as a means of strengthening the social fabric of the country.
Ami Ayalon heads the Centre for Democracy and National Security at the Israel Democracy Institute and chairs the Executive Committee of the Haifa Research Centre for Maritime Strategy. He is one of the founders of the Blue White Future, a non-partisan political movement, committed to securing the future of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state through facilitating an inclusive discourse to promote a two- state solution. He is a former director of Israel Security Agency (the Shin Bet) and a former commander of Israel’s navy. He has served as a cabinet minister and as a member of the Knesset and was featured in the Academy award nominated film “The Gatekeepers.”
When Haim Lavie was born, the prognosis was not good – the doctor told his mother that he would never walk or speak. 20 years later, Haim is a soldier in the Israel Defense Forces.
Shai Jamber made history when he became the first intellectually disabled soldier that gained the title of “an outstanding soldier.” Shai is 27 years old, and from the city of Rehovot. He enlisted three years ago as part of the AKIM ISRAEL’s IDF project: Equal in Uniform. This project includes the intellectually disabled in the army. Shai serves as responsible for the inventory in the fighting equipment center.
Gil Cataloni is a thirty-seven-year-old Special Olympic swimmer and worker at the Cellcom company.

Danny had been appointed to his most recent judicial position by the Governor. He had to run for a full term. He had three opponents, two of whom had unlimited self-funding. The Primary Election was Tuesday and, Baruch Hashem- and with a TON of volunteers, we won BIG!! Danny overwhelmingly won both the Democratic and Republican nominations so he is assured of election in November.
